I took my car there to this mechanic for a diagnosis and possibly be repaired by this Auto Mechanic. The gentleman called me to let me know what they found as far as the diagnosis for my car. He let me know it was a number one fuel injector, and I needed spark plugs. My car is under warranty and I had to report the diagnosis to my dealership. The man quoted me close to $1500 for number one fuel injector and spark plugs for a 2016 Chevy Malibu. When I called my dealership. They told me that was High for those two things. My dealership decided they wanted to have another mechanic fix the problem. I communicated that with the gentleman to let him know my dealership wanted to go to a different mechanic. The man then told me the cost for the diagnosis was $318. I’ve had my car diagnosed before many times by different mechanics. Not even a name brand Company like Meineke ever charged that much. I just simply said that’s a little high for a diagnosis. He responded. He loves when people say that because we don’t know what goes into diagnosing a car. I simply responded that I’ve been too many places for a diagnosis, and it was never that much. After I stated that he proceeded to tell me how much goes into diagnosing a car and begin to raise his voice at me. I told him lower your voice I didn’t scream at you. I’m just saying I’ve never paid that much for a diagnosis. He then yelled at me and said it’s $318 and muffled something else then hung up the phone on me. I am not one to write bad reviews but honestly, I felt like that could’ve been handled a lot better. All I said was it seemed a bit high. I’ve never paid that much before. I wasn’t challenging his price. I was just surprised that it was that much. Then when he makes it seem like I don’t know what I’m talking about. I was simply just saying with the mechanics, I’ve dealt with in the past I’ve never had to pay that price that’s all. I wasn’t trying to fight with him or combat his price. At that point there is no way to combat his price. That’s what he charges so the yelling was unnecessary. The attitude was unnecessary. I tried to get him to lower his tone and simply speak to me, and his attitude continued. My honest opinion of this Auto Mechanic shop is unprofessional. When is it ever OK to scream at your customer. Even if they are taking their business elsewhere, I still used their service to diagnose my car and had to pay that $318 regardless. Needless to say the work that’s being done on my car is being done for a lot less. I honestly feel like this Auto Mechanic charges way too much for the type of service they offer. When I say that I mean the customer service that comes from this place is unprofessional and not worth what they are charging. I will continue doing my business with Effrigs Auto. I never had anything bad happen at that Auto Mechanic. Carr’s Auto will NEVER get my business again. The crazy part is I thought they were a little pricey when they fixed my AC unit on my Kia. All they did was charge it nothing else and they charged me pretty high. I thought I would give them another chance plus they had the quickest appointment. Now I’m understanding why they had such a quick appointment timeframe. They probably barely get customers with the type of customer service they have and their prices being so high. So if you’re looking for a good mechanic by all means go down the street towards front Street and speak with the wonderful people at Effrigs. Do not waste your time with Carr’s Auto. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a Mechanic. I just want to end by saying it’s never my goal to give a bad review, but it was also not necessary for that gentleman to react the way he did. I was just simply sharing that. I’ve never had to pay that much for a diagnosis I wasn’t trying to combat him over it. I was simply sharing my past experience with him as far as diagnosis goes and that’s it. You should never get loud with a customer and hang up. I even tried to de-escalate the situation by saying, please lower your voice. I’m not yelling at you. 🤷🏽‍♀️

In my household we have 3 cars that have been serviced by Carrs and have been pleased with the work performed. Most recently, I had an appointment for an alternator replacement with nearly a weeks notice, two and a half business days after dropping the car off I had not heard anything from Carrs and was told they had not started the work yet when I called due to being busy with customer inspections. The work was completed 5 days after dropping the car off but the bill differed from the quote quite a bit. The quote states [includes: test] under the Alternator, and I had asked them to test the used alternator I supplied before installing, being under the impression that testing was included as many places like Autozone, O’reilly and Advance Auto offer free alternator testing but the testing was billed as a separate line item. I asked about this during pickup and was given an answer I didn’t really understand. The techs perform high quality work but I would have appreciated a bit more communication and transparency from Carrs.
