I drive a car with eyesight technology for adaptive cruise control and related features. I scheduled an appointment to replace my windshield through my insurance. Four appointments and one month later, Safelite finally replaced the windshield and successfully recalibrated the camera. The techs admitted early on that often OEM glass is required to allow the camera to work. However, they had to follow the “Safelite protocol” which somehow necessitated them replacing the windshield TWICE with cheap aftermarket glass that is incompatible with the camera. Then they insisted on replacing the camera itself which is a $2,700 part. Finally they reached the answer they admitted they already knew to replace the windshield with OEM glass. All told, they gave me a generous $50 off my $250 deductible and still charged my insurance nearly $4,000 for all the parts and labor. The experience was incredibly frustrating. To anyone, especially who drives a car with eyesight technology, I cannot recommend avoiding Safelite more!
