  The car rental itself was fine, but the night security guard at the Philadelphia location behaved in a way that was completely unacceptable. At approximately 1:00 AM on December 15, the night security guard (not a desk agent) instigated the interaction by insulting my husband first, despite us being calm, respectful, and simply trying to get home. We did not argue, raise our voices, or engage—we took it on the chin and said nothing. That did not stop him from continuing to act condescending and hostile. He also blocked our Uber driver from exiting for no clear or explained reason, creating unnecessary tension late at night. This was not a response to unruly customers—this was a one-sided display of poor judgment and worse professionalism. Someone in a security role should be capable of basic restraint, discretion, and respect. This individual demonstrated none of those qualities. The rental itself was fine, but this guard should not be interacting with customers at all. Management should take a serious look at overnight conduct at this location.

  Ron’s behavior was outright discriminatory and hostile from the moment I walked into the office. His attitude was rude, condescending, and clearly aimed at making the process as difficult as possible so he could deny me a car. The way he treated me was completely unacceptable and nowhere near professional.

  Impossible to contact this location. I booked a reservation to pickup at 7 am and a few days before my reservation I got an email that the center had changed its hours and would not be open until 8 am. I tried to call this location and it took me 5 tries to get through. When I finally did call the person I spoke to said I could just pick up the car the night before with no extra charge as long as I brought it back at my pre-scheduled time. I asked her if she made a note of this in my chart and she said yes... well, lo and behold, she did not. I showed up the night before (after trying to call them 3 times that day) to pick up my car and was told "we don't have any cars for you to take, you would need to upgrade the car and pay for the extra hours." I explained to them what had happened over the phone and they said "they can't just do that, she shouldn't have told you that in the first place." Since my journey was time sensitive, I had no choice but to pick up the car the night before (as 8 am would be too late for my arrival). Now, a month after my rental, I get notified from my bank (not Sixt) that another charge from Sixt has been made with no explanation or invoice. I tried calling this location 3x and got no answer. I called another local branch and got through on the first try, but they were extremely unhelpful in answering what the charge was. When I asked to see the invoice of what the charge was they said they had to ask their manager... but that he was out to lunch... at 9:40 am...

  This is my new, preferred rental company! I rented a car twice within the last month and both times were pleasant and painless. The location is convenient at the heart of Center City easily accessible by public transit or just walking. Ron and Siani at the front desk were helpful and patient. They walked through the expenses, fees and optional add ons. The cars were clean and well kept. The one had a bad odor but I just drove with the windows down. I returned the car after hours and it was simple to follow the signs and instructions in the parking garage. Refueling gas was simple (just remember to do it!). I saw a review saying Sixt refuel costs $12/gal and gas station in and around the city should only be $3.50/gal or so. When I received the first car, my gas tank was past the full line (over full!) and I returned it just the same. No issues there. Interestingly, although I booked through work for the same service and car type, the totals charged were different both times. With one day, I was charged a “general toll service” ($12) and the other time I was not charged a toll service but I did pay a separate invoice for tolls which totalled to about $15.

  SIXT is currently offering a 10% student discount on their website, only there is no way to redeem the offer. I tried through the website and the app on my phone, neither work. Earlier today I called the Philly SIXT location, and the man who answered greeted me and then transferred me to the corporate customer service phone number without hardly saying a word. I spoke with SIXT customer service folks twice, and both times they were terrible. Both agents told me they were unable to help me with the student discount, with one of them saying "You need to figure out how to do this on your end because we cannot do this on our end." When I requested a manager, the agent asked me why I wanted to speak to the manager, I told the agent that was between the manager and me, and the agent responded "Sorry there are no managers available." and hung up the phone. I just got done booking my rental with a different company. If this is what SIXT is like BEFORE I've even become a customer, I cannot even imagine how horrible they are to deal with when returning a car. I think anyone reading this should look at the other reviews for this company, and then take your business elsewhere.
