The experience with Alamo at PHL airport went well, without a hitch.
I would definitely be willing to rent from them again. The best part was probably how quickly they moved customers through the system. Kudos.

They had ZERO cars even though there were a dozen of us waiting in line with reservations. There was a winter storm so nobody returned their vehicles, meaning they have a ridiculously low amount of inventory that they can’t cover weather events. They had NO backup plan and told us we were on our own. They have NO system in place to call or notify anyone when a vehicle has become available either, meaning anyone could walk up as soon as a vehicle came in and get one, while anyone with a reservation waiting for a vehicle that was not present was forgotten. This is absolutely horrible business, I understand there are weather events and things happen, but this is PA., this happens enough that there should be a system in place to inform us that A: our reservation cannot be fulfilled before we wait outside for a shuttle to take us to the counter (and then wait for a shuttle back!) and B: let those with reservations know when their vehicle becomes available instead of leaving everyone in the dark.
I will never put my family through what we went through that night ever again. I will never be going with this rental service again.

Great rental car experience. I was traveling with a pet and wanted to get him to my apartment as fast as possible. The shuttles were quick and the drivers were very courteous. Alamo's skip the counter option made it seamless. I was able to get my car in less than 5 minutes. The return process was just as seamless. The car was in good condition, although I am not a mitsubishi fan, but it was in the best conditions of the available compact cars. If I ever need another rental from the Philly airport, I would definitely chose Alamo again.

Worst experience ever renting a car. First, got to the Philly airport at about 0130 in the morning with family (5 of us including 3 kids). Come to find out the minivan I rented was not there. They only had 2 convertible mustangs. My choice to take the mustang or stay all night at Alamo and wait for another car. Of course after being in the airports all day, I took the mustang which needless to say IS NOT a good car for 5 people. Counter person told me to drive next morning to the Allentown airport and get the car exchanged (we were staying in Allentown for family). Next morning went to Allentown airport. Guy at the counter told me that they only had cars for their reservations and that it was Philly Alamo's issue to solve. Called the Alamo customer service, they took the information and said someone would call back (rental has been returned and no one has called back, nice CSR). Went to two Enterprise locations (Enterprise Holdings is the parent company) and they said the same thing. We only have rentals for our reservations and it's Philly's issue to fix (nice corporate structure). After I begged the counterperson (thanks Jo for caring), they gave me an exchange for the Mustang for a Mitsubishi Mirage (at least now the kids didn't have to bend their heads down to fit, same width but higher ceiling than the mustang). Next day (Sunday 12/28) I drove by the Allentown airport and noticed 3 rows of cars full at the National/Alamo/Enterprise section. I walked in and beg the lady at the counter to help us out. Her response "if the car is not broken, I will not exchange it because I need to save my cars for my customers". Anyone who has flown into Allentown airport knows that the Sunday volume is non existent. I was the only one at the rental area at 2 pm. Thanks ABE Alamo for not caring at all. Moreover, same excuse, it is Philly's issue to fix. So I called the Alamo CS number and finally someone cared enough to look at the inventory at Philly airport and said the they had a minivan. I drove 1.5 hours back to Philly airport and finally someone took pity on us and gave us the minivan. Happy kids for now because they could actually sit up and stretch their legs (if you have teens you know how much fun it us to stuff 3 in the back seat of a mustang and a mirage econobox). Then, yesterday when I returned the minivan I refueled 2 miles away from the airport. When I went to return the minivan, apparently the minivan communicates with the Alamo computers and told them that the tank was missing a gallon of fuel (THE DAM GAUGE READ FULL). So they charge my credit card over $23 dollars for a fuel charge. This is highway robbery. Enterprise holdings (Alamo/Enterprise/National) are the worst company I have dealt with while renting a car. Since the only thing I can do about it is NEVER TO RENT FROM THEM AGAIN, I will not. My Alamo insiders is already in the garbage. They deserve a class action lawsuit for all the abuses they are conducting against consumers. Good luck Enterprise Holdings may others be treated better than you treated us. Good Bye!

I made one mistake in not asking an employee for their name. Went to the kiosk in the lot and asked if they knew which vehicle had the lowest mileage. The gentleman walked out with me and we both checked. He found one. He then made sure everything worked and spent time inspecting. I rent frequently and rarely have I seen this kind of customer service. Not only would I hire this man, I would put him in charge of the CS department
