However a few months ago I went in a couple of times and had the rudest experience was treated like trash by one and then a second one chimed in and all I was doing was bringing old sealed oil containers to them for proper disposal. I'll rate again if I notice a trend of respect as I did the last time. Hence the extra star.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
