After about an hour in the waiting room, the mechanic comes to talk with me- told me they had a new mechanic doing the oil change and he drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. I asked what that meant and was told that it just means it will be a few minutes longer. He said they have to have the correct transmission fluid delivered. 45 minutes later, comes to say it's almost complete, asked him questions that were recommended from a mechanic friend, answered my questions but brushed the situation off as not a big deal. Told me how it happened. I asked for everything to be written down. I was not charged, but when I was checking out, the report had very minimal details. I was told he couldn't write everything down because it was going to be recorded in a different process (first mechanic cut his hand and the second mechanic had discovered the error). He told me he wasn't able to give me the contact information of the regional manager that he had been referencing that he was talking with. Also said the area manager was walking them through the process to change the transmission fluid, but wasn't able to have their contact either. He assured me everything would be fine because they did it correctly and there were no issues during the drive around the lot. I asked how long it will take to know if the transmission was messed up, told me 3-4 days. Finally was able to leave after 2 hours, got a call on the way home that they found my engine shield and asked me to turn around to have them put it back on.
