Install suppose to take 2 hours. Had my car all day an then thought I was going to pick it up last night. This was a horrible process to go thru. Do yourself a favor dont get a dui an have to deal with these ppl.
Update. i did an edit review. Device is still a handful to deal with sometimes but intoxalock (Ms Patricia) does her best to help me get thru. She's the only reason I'm able to get thru this process. Really appreciate her.

I had an interlock system scheduled and installed through this garage. While on the phone with intoxalock they quoted me an install fee of 275.00
Upon picking up the vehicle after the installation the woman running the counter wrote down the installation fee 250.00.
My initial reaction was suprise seeing is it was cheaper than what I was expecting. (25 bucks is 25 bucks) I said oh that's it?
She immediately asked if I was quoted more, before I even responded she walked to the garage speaking in Spanish. She came back scribbled out the 250 and said it's 275. She was polite the entire time.
After paying cash She handed me the pamphlet of the device. I poliety asked for a recipet and she simply wrote pd275 In pen. No initials no signature date nothing.( I realized that after leaving)
I am unsatisfied with the way pricing works in there. It should be a flat fee for everyone. Not let's get extra money off this person or that person charging different rates for different individuals. Also the fact that there was no legitimate receipt was a definitely a deal breaker. I like to document my finances and when I can not legitimate prove here, on this day at that time for this amount... I wouldn't recommend. Sketchy in my opinion?
I initially gave this a low rating. I am changing my review to 5 stars because they have stepped up and rectified the situation. They took my experience from above and went above and beyond to compensate me. I do want to thank them. I did not anticipate that happening. At this point it's been great working with them. Thank you intoxalock!
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements.
