So I had a review before but this puts the icing on the cake. It was so cold one morning, the box wouldnt work. It said warming up then said clearing , then blow. I know my device. It beeped for over 2 minutes. The second try , no beep at all. A day later I get a lock out thing. I call intoxalock and the guy says they can normally do a reset from the office but not here in PA. So I had to take it to a mechanic and he charged me 54$. Now intoxalock is billing me for 80$ extra and could t even do the lock reset. I knew the Indian was still going to try. He said with go.to a mechanic o mi can try here. He then said he couldnt do it in Pa. Why am I being billed that 80$? It was your device that wouldn't work when it's too cold! So I'm supposed to miss work? I keep the thing.wrappednin a hoody and a coat too. I can't help it it's too cold and your device goes crazy. I will not be paying that 80$. I got two more caliberations on this thing. I think at the next one, it's time to take this out and finish my let two month without a car in my name! I'm done paying extra fees and bullcrap. This account was in a woman's name who payed a bunch in the beginning and yin's said she never did. So.i payed it over. Now I'm not letting you charge me for your device that didn't work. Then I called me the lady said hold on I'll be back! After eating and talking for 13 minutes she disappears and then one other let come back on about 10 minutes later asking me for the info.the other lady did all over. Just know I'm not paying it. I can't ! That means i.lets yin's rob me

One of the very few honest auto shop owners I have encountered. I absolutely will refer anyone who ants good quality service stop by Carl's auto. Stay blessed. My review is only in regards to the auto shop and not for intoxaloc in any way shape or form. This company is garbage and rip offs. Ask for another dui company other than intoxaloc.

The installer at this location was awesome! Very thorough and went through tons of information with me and showed me how to use the device. They were more helpful and provided more information than the person i worked with to get this all set up. Will continue to use this location through this whole process.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
Where do I get an ignition interlock device?
Ignition interlock devices can be installed at certified service centers nationwide. Intoxalock offers a convenient network of locations and helps you schedule an installation appointment near you. Visit our Intoxalock locations page or call us to find the nearest service center and begin the installation process.
How long will my installation take?
Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements. Intoxalock offers a simple lockout override process in most cases to help you get back on the road quickly. Contact Intoxalock customer support for assistance and to understand the steps needed to resolve the issue.
