STAY AWAY from this company . Lockouts can happen more than once in the same week because the device treats each issue as a separate violation, even if it’s not your fault. A missed or failed test, a device malfunction, power issues, or an error during startup can trigger a lockout. Once a lockout happens, the clock resets, so another minor issue days later can cause a second lockout. There’s no grace period, no warning system, and no protection against repeat lockouts. One problem doesn’t prevent the next—so you can end up locked out twice in one week, racking up more fees and downtime. It has been the worse experience what’s worse is your hold for 1 hr when you call them

I was charged $540 for the install. The website says installs are supposed to be between $75 to $150. The lady I paid, said it's because it's a "newer vehicle". My car is 7 years old. The installer also caused one of the displays in my car, to no longer work. Just to be clear, the install cost, is on top of the $110 I have to pay for the next 12 months. I also get that there's nothing good about a DUI, but my DUI was 9 years ago, and I got it for driving in an empty parking lot, for about 30 seconds. I didn't drive on the road that night. It's an extremely predatory racket that Pennsylvania and Intoxalock has going on. Its a major part of the reason, that it took me so long to go through with getting my license back. I went to Auto First in Mechanicsburg PA. Maybe they're the reason that I got price gouged, but I'm beyond angry about this. I also don't recommend going to Auto First for a car, because the salesman told me perks, that I didn't get. For example, he said I would get a warranty, but I didn't get one, and he said they would detail the car, but they didn't. Be careful because there's a lot of greedy predators, that have no soul, out here taking advantage of us.

Worst company of all time. Constant fees not mentioned at time of initial consultation. I called five different times in an attempt to have my unit removed at the end of my service and received numerous answers none of which were the same. There are fees which they don’t tell you about. The battery died in my car because the unit attempts to keep itself warm in the winter and I was told this was a violation and I’d be charged 75$ and that I wouldn’t be in compliance to have the unit removed legally. As it was my responsibility to make sure my battery is charged. Two weeks later I received an email stating operating tips for the winter this was in January something that should have been explained well before the cold weather season. The unit gives false readings and failed retests labeled as improper procedure. Even tho I had the unit installed for a whole year it would act like I didn’t know how to operate it. There are dealership fees and various other fees as the company is not local and they will even have the nerve to bill you for the shipping of your unit to the shop who will then bill you every month for the recalibration along with intoxalock. Mind you I spoke with five different people waiting 30-90 minutes on hold before I received proper information. Go with anyone else even if you have to drive 40 miles to get to them. I was charged 75$ lockout fees for various things such as air fresheners in my car, friends wearing cologne and my favorite a rag that had race gas on it. The best of all is you have to sit in your car for 3-5 minutes just for the unit to warm up before you can even start your car in 12 degree weather. There is no warm up feature so you just have to sit there and freeze as the unit will randomly go off every 5-15 minutes. This was my third dui and first time with this company I recommend you save yourself the $500+ dollars in illigitimate fees and go with anyone else. The other companies charge around 70$ flat fee and have there own service centers. Intoxalock charges $88 plus the 40-50$ fee the dealership will charge you per month just to recalibrate it. Say you need to replace your battery well that’s a lockout fee of 75$ plus the 40-50$ at the dealership to clear it plus the cost of the new battery. I could go on and on about how rude they are. But I’m sure you’ve already stopped reading and called anyone else if you’re smart. If you don’t believe me go to any dealership that deals with them and even they will tell you stories of how they’ve had ppl wait 2-3 hours because the machine was down and well you have no choice because you need your car to get to work so you wait.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance.
