It's almost 2 weeks 3/10 installed and paperwork hasn't been received to the DMV. My car insurance wants to drop me. When I called last Friday 3/14 it was being expedited to fax again and it's 3/20 & still not done!

It's hard to rate the experience, the staff was great, very nice, helpful. When I was taken to my car, I noticed there was a substantial crack in the windshield, having been inspected only a few days prior and not driven other than the quart mile home from the garage where inspected, I went in and alerted the staff. The crack was right under where the camera had been installed for the intoxalock . The shop did not claim responsibility and now I have a 300 dollar bill that I don't have enough to afford.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
