I had a tree come down on my car May 31st. I chose this shop to complete the work. They had my car for two weeks, and I got it back mid-June. They repaired the roof damage to my car, however in doing so, they had to remove my headliner and all of my trim/molding pieces out of the inside of my car. When I got my car back- the headliner was filthy. There were greasy fingerprints all over the tan headliner. There was sealant in the cargo window. My grab handle was upside down. My headliner was shifted so all of the raw edges were exposed. My front passenger side assembly was completely taken apart (very dangerous and very illegal) and unusable, the molding around my rear doors did not fit, and there were gaps where every piece of molding should have fit. My cargo area molding was a huge mess. I called Lansdale and reported the seatbelt problem to Nick, he offered an apology and that was it. I then took my car to the closest Gerber- in Pen Argyl for the seatbelt repair and other issues to be looked at. The repair manager, Sandy, came to check my car and she informed me, very rudely, that it was impossible that they took my seatbelt apart. I took her to my car and pointed out that it was impossible they didn’t remove the seatbelt for repair. She was argumentative, so I told her I would just call State Farm and have them deal with it. She got angry and told me that “she wasn’t going to allow me to ruin their reputation with State Farm”. At that point I left, with only the seatbelt repaired, and called my agent. My agent got in touch with the manager, Jerry, in Lansdale, and he was apologetic and had my car towed to his shop, where the mistakes were originally made. Mind you this is now the third time I’ve gone for repairs. Before my car was towed- I marked every mistake with white stickers, so there was no way they would miss the problems. Jerry assured me he was going to go over my car himself. He calls me that same evening and said my car would be towed back to my house that night. No problem I said. My car got dropped off by the tow truck at 10pm, and it was too dark to check out the work. At 7am the next morning I was out checking over my car. Everything was mostly passable, except for the entire driver’s side molding in my cargo area. The two large pieces that were meant to fit, were badly bowed out. Upon looking further at the molding, I found that they had used a tube of black sealant to attempt to glue the molding to my car frame. It hadn’t dried from the previous day. I called the manager and left a detailed message with the receptionist, as he wasn’t in yet. I get a call back from him about an hour later, and he said he was ordering used replacement molding for my cargo area, but that “I would just have to wait”. He made a comment to me that he had thought the sealant would’ve dried by the time I saw it! No reputable shop would repair molding by using sealant to glue it to the body of the car. Total hack job, and that was suggested/authorized by the shop manager. The manager! I did not mince words as this was the third time my car was at there, and mind you, this is now end of July/beginning of August. The manager proceeded to tell me “ I have the same car as yours sitting here and your trim is better than their’s is, so you should be happy with what you have”. At that point I was done with them messing my car up. My car’s interior had never been removed, so it was perfect. Every single time they tried to “repair” the interior, it got worse and worse. I called my insurance agent again, and I set up an appointment with a Caliber collision in Nazareth for corrective work. I was told that 5 other people had issues with Lansdale messing up the molding in their cars. All had corrective work as well. The new repair shop did the right thing, and they ordered completely new molding for my cargo area, so it would fit properly.
Avoid Gerber. They were rude in Pen Argyl, and incompetent in Lansdale. It ended up taking 3 months to repair my car! Don’t believe what they say in response to this comment either!
