I am reaching out regarding a serious incident with Enterprise rentals in Lancaster in December. My husband’s Subaru was hit in our parking spot so we rented a vehicle from Enterprise. That same evening an ice storm occurred and the rental’s front insert was cracked either by another car leaving a space or sliding which we noticed while going to the car in the morning. We reported this immediately and followed all instructions. We have now received an invoice of over two thousand dollars for the original rental car which was damaged either by someone backing into it or due to sliding during the ice storm. The damages to the Nissan Altima are minor. Specifically, the plastic grill insert on a 2025 Nissan Altima retails for under $300, and even with high-end auto body labor costs in this area, the total repair would not come close to the amount being charged. We had already been charged $800 for this rental, which we should not have had to pay. The coverage plan for this situation was confirmed by the Enterprise representative I spoke to at 9:50 a.m. on 1/12. The replacement rental Enterprise gave us to replace the previous car then suffered a catastrophic engine failure on a four lane highway( two lanes in each direction) with cars merging and passing. He experienced violent shaking sudden loss of power and smoke creating a life threatening situation. The vehicle had to be towed off the highway, and he was first brought to the wrong Enterprise location before eventually being brought to the correct Enterprise, creating two major additional inconveniences. He was forced to navigate a dangerous emergency scenario that should have been prevented by proper vehicle safety standards. On top of this my husband lost a full day of work and I being pregnant was left without support at home. We should not be held responsible for damages we did not cause especially under a paid coverage plan. Additionally the loss of time money and endangerment to my husband’s life due to Enterprise’s rental vehicle is unacceptable. We were hopeful this matter can be resolved promptly and appropriately. However if Enterprise intends to hold us financially responsible for damage we did not cause and that is covered under the purchased plan then we are prepared to also formally address the life threatening situation and resulting losses caused by the unsafe replacement vehicle provided to us that blew up, including the time my husband missed from work, just as Enterprise has held us accountable for having the first rental car off the lot. We also expect to be fully reimbursed for all charges related to this event including the $800 we were previously charged. Most importantly, since bringing this issue up to enterprise I have had no calls back, and was even told the manager prefers emails over calls(which I have still yet to receive)...which is outrageous customer service but fits the service we have experienced thus far. They offered us a $200 credit to "compensate" the $3000+ they want from us but refuse to address their own liabilities, faulty customer service and follow through. I'd be happy to take this review down but it seems with 4 calls places and zero remediation this may be the only way to get the attention deserved. Ben was great, he should be the manager considering he was the ONLY employee to take the time with other individuals holding the actual title of manager did nothing and hid behind their front desk employees. You have our number, please respond.
