I’ve been going to another Mavis location for years for pretty much everything car related but found myself at an appointment in Kingston last week and heard the dreaded clunking of a tire. I looked and saw a huge screw embedded in my rear tire. I popped into the Edwardsville location (no appointment, obviously) expecting a wait and possibly an expensive fix. I was very pleasantly surprised when they took the car right back, removed the screw which apparently somehow hadn’t actually pierced and damaged the tire, and was given the car back with no charge for the assessment within probably 10 minutes. I was grateful for a very easy experience and would absolutely recommend this location for great service.

Went in for 3 new tires and an alignment and was out in just over a hour! They gave me the alignment results and explained what the issue was as well. The front desk receptionist checked in on me during the service and kept me up to date the whole time. I'm actually looking forward to coming back here again!

Around mid December, I came in for tire service and asked for a courtesy check because my PA inspection was due in January. They told me everything looked perfect and said the inspection would be $55, so I made an appointment in January. After I previously left a moderate review (and later deleted it because they replied asking to talk further), the employee recognized me. At my inspection appointment, suddenly my car “needed” a long list of repairs — control arms and an exhaust gasket & tail brake light — and they quoted around $1,300. That didn’t make sense to me because the car drives smoothly; I am a penn state hazleton student and commute about 30 miles on I-81 regularly with no issues(around 75 mph). I declined the repairs at the same day and they failed my inspection and still charged me $43. I then went to two reputable shops for a check of the front lower control arm and exhaust system. Both said everything looked fine and that the car should pass but I thought mavis already took my 43 dollars so I will get back to them. But I went to a third shop, and they also found nothing wrong — and they completed the inspection with an easy pass.( it’s end of the January so I don’t have any time). 1-2 of my brake lights bulbs (out of 8) were dim and charged me 220. One of the machine from other shop just unplugged the connection and plugged in back in front of me and it was bright again. Charging 220 for that is unreasonable. So the “perfect” courtesy check turned into a sudden $1,300 repair list and a failed inspection, yet multiple independent shops found no problems and passed the car. Moral: don’t go here for inspections or maintenance. It felt like they were trying to create expensive repairs.
