- JMJay MJan 30, 20265.0Always helpful. My emissions test failed, so I went in thinking I would buy a bottle of this stuff that assists in passing emission tests. I would just dump it in with a full tank of gas and be good to go. An employee (sorry can’t remember the name since it has been several months) asked me a few questions to learn about my situation. He then explained to me how the previous mechanic who just worked on my car the day before the test, reset the diagnostic codes and all I had to do was drive several miles so the codes would reset. That night, I went out for take-out 25 miles from my house! Ha.The following week, went in for my emissions test and passed! This saved me the money on buying the bottle and another failed test. Anytime, I go into this store they help out and get it right. Thanks!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
