- AWAmanda Walsh1 day ago5.0Went to Advance Auto Parts this past weekend because my car battery died. Spoke to the grey-haired gentleman, I think his name was Travis. He tested my battery and recommended replacement. He also took the time to show me that the battery cables weren’t tight and that my cables were corroded. He cleaned them up, put a protection kit on it to prevent the corrosion from coming back, tightened my cables, and even got me an extra warranty which gave me peace of mind since the vehicle is my daughters car while she is away at college. Travis installed the battery quickly and had me on my way. Travis was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this store. Everyone there was very nice.

Came back and they did and that was awesome because I couldn’t do it myself. It took about 30 mins to get it done because they were helping other customers. I saw someone get pretty grouchy because it took longer to get help than he wanted, but the employee handled him with respect and the grouch simmered down. Good customer service takes time, and these men know their stuff and provided excellent recommendations. I could tell that they were recommending certain things because they knew it’d help me (like a $4.00 thing to make it so my battery didn’t corrode as quickly). Installing the battery was so above and beyond what I’d expected when I came in today, and I’d say 30 minutes is incredibly fast for having me just drop in for a replacement. Thank you!

I went to the Hellertown Advance Auto Part because my truck had a dead battery but Travis tested it and replaced it in record time so I wouldn’t be late for my appointment. He gave me extra peace of mind with an extended warranty on the battery and even cleaned up and installed a protection kit so I wouldn’t get corrosion on my terminals again. I will definitely be back again to this store to see Travis whenever I need something for my truck in the future. Thanks Again!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
