Mavis didn’t just change my car oil, but fix my tire without charging me when I wasn’t financially ready to do it. Thank you, definitely worth being a customer.

Picked out my tires, services, and scheduled online for my wife to have (2) tires changed in her Kia Seltos. Online you’re able to pick the quality of tire, add extra services, and schedule your appointment then and there. Wow, that was easy!? Wrong. As you can see in the provided photos, the email confirmation for my appointment states a $223.96 subtotal before tax. This includes, $173.98 for the (2) tires, and a $49.98 balancing. Installation listed as “free”. When my wife showed up to the appointment, with 3 toddlers in tow, they told her it would be $385. She called me, and I pushed back. I forwarded her the confirmation email, which she then showed the attendant. His response was, “Oh that doesn’t include rotating the tires.” Right….. Except tire rotation isn’t even a selectable option when selecting your new tires, it’s one of (15) other services you can select. I also never selected it. There’s still a $162 discrepancy in that case. Of course there’s no price listed for Tire Rotation or Wheel Alignment if you do happen to go back & select those services as well. There are a ton of other services you can select. Many of which will not show a price. I also selected an oil change, but it notified me that as well would be priced out in store. It’d be interesting to see what they would attempt to charge for that. Mavis claims, “Guaranteed lowest prices” - which is clearly not true. I’m not sure if company policy is to use general use “bait-and-switch” tactics or if these specific employees were trying to take advantage of a woman with 3 young kids, obviously desperate to have her tires changed. The fact that I’m quoted for $223.96, and the actual total is $385? Is an absolute joke. That’s not a simple misunderstanding, that’s predatory business tactics. That’s not a couple bucks in taxes/fees. That’s 72% more than the price listed in the confirmation email. This is either false advertising, disloyal sales tactics, employee manipulation, or all of the above. I would highly recommend refraining on taking your vehicle into this shop. You will likely be quoted one price, and given another. I feel obligated to post this as a message of BUYERS BEWARE. If you look at my profile, I’m a “local guide” on Google Review - and I’ve NEVER given any establishment anything less than 5 stars. I would rather use Google’s review system to help businesses. This time? I feel obligated to help the community. The ironic part is? I had the Brookhaven location change a tire on my work van last week. They had to special order the tire. Told me to come back tomorrow after a certain time, told me how much it would cost. I did, the price was the same, and they put the tire on. I paid less for a specialty tire on a work van, meant to hold a significant amount of weight, than they attempted to charge for budget tires on an economy SUV. After this debacle, immediately before posting this review, I called a local shop, was given a quote over the phone, was confirmed that would be the final price, and am having the 2 tires replaced tomorrow for nearly half the price. Support locally owned businesses, not mega corporations who are purposefully trying to deceive their customers. What if the car wasn’t drivable and had to be towed there? We would’ve had no choice but to pay.

I’ve been coming to Matt D’s Mavis for almost a decade. Multiple vehicles with multiple oddball problems that you might think you’d need to go to the dealership to solve. The team at this particular store always go way above and beyond to make sure their customers are taken care of. I came in on a Saturday morning today unannounced and they managed to fit me in to diagnose what is looking like a serious transmission issue in my 20yo Subaru. I just heard an annoying noise. Sporadically. They may not do clutch replacements here, but now my plans on continuing to drive it this weekend vs. my new truck have changed. Quite possibly saving me a transmission replacement vs. a clutch replacement. There are a lot of shops that are much closer to my house. There’s also a very good reason why I drive past them all come to this Mavis location. Thanks again to Matt and crew! RWW
