- MSMelissa SNov 3, 20234.0Stopped in at the Gettysburg store today and was greeted by Ethan. He changed my battery quickly, was patient, and pleasant to deal with. Sadly, he assured me it was okay to drive immediately and a half mile up the street my car stalled at a busy traffic light. Sat there with hazards on, blocking traffic for 5ish minutes before I could get it to start again. Despite his advice, the battery indeed needed more time to charge before driving away.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
