- AAAna AjemJan 28, 20265.0Driving solo from New York to Florida My engine light went on, and I was having difficulty accelerating. Late afternoon, on a Saturday I pulled into advance auto in Dillsburg Pa. They diagnosed my problem and called a mechanic for me. This mechanic happened to be an angel and the next day Which was a Sunday!!! This mechanic diagnosed and fixed my problem and only charged me $100. And I drove all the way to Florida with not a single problem. The two workers at this advance auto went above and beyond to help me in a very dire situation. If you’re having car trouble on your way to Florida, seek out this advance auto parts in Dillsburg. They will take care of you. I can’t say enough of how wonderful my experience was in my time of need.

I really appreciate how I have been treated in this store. I don’t know much about cars—I’m learning as I go—but I have never felt belittled or patronized when I ask questions. The employees I’ve encountered here so far are just kind. And they lent me the screwdrivers I needed so I could change my bulbs right there in the parking lot :)

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
