- JJJakeDec 15, 20151.0I went in to return a brake caliper because as I was about to install the part I realized the boot was not properly seated. As I explained this to the associate, he told me that nothing was wrong with the part and was immediately short with me and disinterested in the reason I was there. He continued to tell me that he would simply place the part I returned right back on the shelf without further consideration. I thought I was being pretty objective and reasonable with the guy. Finally I asked if we could just exchange the parts with a slight discount for my inconvenience (maybe 5 or 10 percent). I didn't think that was absurd. Long story short I returned the part and went to Auto Zone. This guy was just stubborn for no good reason. Disappointed.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward.
