I am in the process of trying to have my device removed. I spoke with an agent on 12/16/2025, he then informed me my compliance paperwork would be sent that day. I asked him if he needed a copy of the eligibility letter i received from penndot, and he told me no they had one on file. Again on 12/22/205 I called intoxalock to verify if this information was submitted, and was informed that it was in fact not. The women told me that i needed to send the eligibility paperwork and gave me an email to do so. When asking her why I was told differently she wasn't kind and only kept repeating herself about sending the eligibilty paperwork. I sent the email and called back to verify when that would be processed. The gentlemen I spoke with told me that it would be completed in 2 business days and that I can expect it to be completed Tuesday 12/30/2025. I then attempted to call again yesterday Monday 12/29/2025 and was told that they would have a final update for me Wednesday 12/31/2025. As of 1 oclock pm on Tuesday 12/30/2025 I still have not recieved a conformation email that it was sent to penndot, which I was informed multiple times through out these phone calls that I would receive one. So I called intoxalock again, this time I was told a note was added today 12/30/2025 that i needed to call back in 2-3 days to see if it was processed. And again after calling I was told now that they never received the email. No one is able to tell me why the date keeps changing or why I was initially lied to. Everytime i ask to speak with a member of the compliance department I am told that I am unable to speak with them. I am beginning to get frustrated, this process is unlcear and confusing. My eligibility date has surpassed by 17 days and counting. I have spoke with more than enough agents on the phone. I have emailed 3 different intoxalock accounts. Every time I request to speak with a supervisor or the compliance team I am denied. No one has a straight forward answer.

How does an interlock device work?

Once the device is installed, drivers blow into the car breathalyzer mouthpiece to provide a breath sample. The device tests for breath alcohol content (BrAC) within the legal limit. If it's under the limit (typically .02), then the driver can put their keys in the ignition and start the car.

What is the cost of ignition interlock device?

An ignition interlock device, also frequently referred to as a car breathalyzer, ranges in cost between $70 and $150 for installation. This fee is a one-time fee paid at the start of your lease period for the device to be installed into your vehicle.
