The car was running perfectly when I dropped it off. The next day they called to say my car was ready. I was sick, so I sent my sister to pick it up. She paid for the service, but when she tried to start the car it wouldn’t start and displayed a “Check Hybrid System” message. No one at the shop mentioned any issue before taking payment. I had to drive there myself, even though I was sick. The staff initially tried to blame the problem on my car being “too old” and claimed the hybrid battery needed replacement. I spent over two hours in their parking lot, overwhelmed and trying to figure out what to do. During that entire time, no one disclosed that the car had actually shut off during their test drive. It was only when my husband arrived and pressed for answers that one of the employees finally admitted it. I had to tow the car to a Toyota dealership at my own expense. The dealership quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem — the air-intake tube had not been reattached properly after service, which caused the car to fail. This was clearly the result of negligence at Mavis. I will never take my car to a Mavis location again and will strongly advise my friends and family to do the same.
