This company was a nightmare from beginning till end. It was literally 1 lie after another. I talked to an English speaking American when initially signing up & getting info, who said she would be my Agent throughout this process beginning to end. That was a lie, as soon as placed in my vehicle, calls went straight to a call center in India. But before it was even in my car they had me driving back & forth illegally 3 times to the shop for installation but device wasn't even there. Now i should of been done March 6th but instead had to sign an extension to contract and pay more fees all because they started time before it was installed in vehicle but again, No recourse. Also, if you work on your own car, find another company. I put in a work order everytime I worked on vehicle but would still trigger lockout countdown which they would acknowledge it wasn't my fault but still had to pay the shop to recalibrate it away. You pay for there lack of integrity because they will flat out tell you, go head and complain, it isnt going to do anything. Even with a State Advocate it didnt help much because they don't both responding to your emails. This Money Pit Mentality that they have will have you further in debt than you can even think of. Wish someone would of warned me how slimy this company is. After everything once Brake D hopper removed device my car wouldn't start to pull out bay. It finally started after finding a problem with main from fuse box right were intoxalock was spliced in because battery is in truck. Now there's a bad connection & have to play with terminal half the time to start. You have No Recourse for their bad business practices & terrible customer service.

This company is absolutely terrible I would not recommend using them at all ever. Customer service is terrible, I’ve been trying to contact them about the device for 4 days now, and cannot get anyone to answer a phone or email. there devices are terrible and fail or fault constantly. Go to literally any other company. Avoid intoxalock.
I’d give it 0 stars but it won’t post without at least a 1 star rating..
The group that installed it is great, the company Intoxalock is terrible.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
Where do I get an ignition interlock device?
Ignition interlock devices can be installed at certified service centers nationwide. Intoxalock offers a convenient network of locations and helps you schedule an installation appointment near you. Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements.
