If you take your car here, be prepared for it to never run correctly again. Warning: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO A-Z auto. I am a layman, but even I noticed in the tenth hour of a two hour install that something didn’t look correct. They were scraping wires from old parts lying in the corners of their shop. Sure enough, just days later their wiring blew a fuel pump. I finally took it to another Intoxilock garage and they confirmed that the gauge of wire was substandard and, maybe worse, they cut wires they shouldn’t have and spliced wires incorrectly. I am now $1000’s into repairs and with only vague hope that either AtoZ or Intoxilock will ever make good on it. Oh, and I am paying for a service that I cannot use, leaving me unable to drive for more than two weeks now. Again…. DO NOT use A to Z auto. They simply do not know what they are doing.

Got car back with broken hood latch and a hairline fracture where camera chord is run in between dash and windshield. Brought car in there with no damage. Tried telling me it wasn’t from them. Liars

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
