This company is a scam they are usei g people's misfortune to take money. It has nothing to do with insuring that people don't drive drunk ! They will use every reason to steal your hard earned money. I haven't driven in a year and I had several lockouts and have had to pay a fortune. Truck broke down after 3 days of not starting it the device killed my battery boom lock out pay 75 to them $45 to recall . Friend drives my truck obviously not me on the camera he gets out it asks for a sample no one's there boom lock out pay and other 75 plus 45 this has happened so many times that I finally said I'm not paying for the last two lockouts . .I'll take my chances with the courts before I let these scam artist rob me of one more dime. My advice there are other companies that offer better services , seek them out if you like your money to stay in your wallets.

I wouldn't recommend i had my device in and had to pay for it almost 3 months longer then I should have because of bad communication between them, the police department, and dmv when I had intoxalock do my 90 day no negative report. Got the run around between intoxalock and DMV for weeks until finally someone at intoxalock gave me a number for the state police department they work with I got a hold of them and I'm told that it's been sent since over 2 months ago and I'd been paying for it this whole time for nothing. I asked if I could get even a partial refund or the final payment to close my account with them waived for almost 3 months of payments I didn't need to pay because of they're misinformation and errors but was told no. It's all about the money with these people and they're trying to squeeze as much as they can out of ya while they got ya. Lol

The worst. No one knows what they are doing, and completely give you false information. This will affect your driving record and no one will take accountability when they make a mistake. By far the worst professional company for any service. Do not recommend to anyone. Please look elsewhere if you need to get help with this service!
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
Where do I get an ignition interlock device?
Ignition interlock devices can be installed at certified service centers nationwide. Intoxalock offers a convenient network of locations and helps you schedule an installation appointment near you. Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
