Well Intoxalock made my appointment for Sat the 27th. But ordered my unit by ground which would not be delivered till Monday the 29th. Extremely unprofessional and feel I should be refunded my money. If I was late or a no show, I would still have to pay. As stated in the 5 emails and several texts I received. You should comp my installation for being unprofessional and basically screwing up. I was lucky that a "same day installation kit" came in and was able to get it bumped to my name. Not to impressed so far with intoxalock. Very unprofessional way to conduct business..

TRAPPED IN A DEVICE WE DON’T NEED!! We installed the device and found out we don’t need it yet because we need to complete other things before reinstatement of license is possible but no one will answer an email or phone call to schedule an uninstall. SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! We will be contacting an attorney to pursue legal action.

When I first got signed up I was told that i would get the first bi weekly payment waved if I chose to go with intoxalock. After getting the machine installed in the vehicle I now have an overdue payment that I was told would be waived. I reached out to the salesman asking why he told me the first payment would be waved if that was not the truth. He told me that he knows nothing about that and to call the customer service help line.
When scheduling my appointment I was told that the installation would take 1-3 hours. I went in at 9:30am and was told that my car would be done at 5pm. When I showed up to pick the car up. I gave them my name and they handed the keys to me without checking my ID. Anyone could have said they were me and signed a signature.
Not the greatest way to start this relationship. No one explained anything about what I need to do with the paperwork that was given to me after installation. There are a lot of questions that are not being answered.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

How long will my installation take?
Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements. Intoxalock offers a simple lockout override process in most cases to help you get back on the road quickly. Contact Intoxalock customer support for assistance and to understand the steps needed to resolve the issue.
