Less than 1 star- DO NOT GO HERE PICK ANOTHER LOCATION!!
Easily one of the worst customer service experience of my life.
This weekend is my marriage ceremony on the Oregon Coast, and my car suddenly stopped working, so I urgently needed a rental. I booked a reservation over the phone for a mid-size SUV similar to a Nissan Rogue. I specifically asked if they could confirm that an actual Nissan Rogue was available so we could select the vehicle before we arrived. The rep put me on hold, called the SW Barber location, and then came back to say yes, they had one, and that it would be noted on my reservation.
I took off work and headed there, When I arrived at the SW Barber location, two employees began pulling up my reservation and told me I had two vehicles to choose from — neither of which was a Nissan Rogue. I asked about the Rogue I had been promised, and they told me they didn’t have one and no one had called to confirm anything. I was frustrated and explained that I’d confirmed in advance to avoid wasting time — especially since this was for my wedding weekend.
I asked if they could check other locations, and they said there might be one at the east side location. I requested that they either arrange for the car to be brought over or for us to be transported there, since we had already paid $45.00 to get to this branch via Lyft. They refused, saying that location was short-staffed. Because they wouldn’t assist us in getting in contact with the east Portland branch or arranging transportation, we had to pay another $55 to get to that location by Lyft.
When I asked them to call the other location staff or manager, they refused, saying they could only text them — and after a couple of minutes told me the manager said they were “too busy” to help. When I asked for the name and contact information of their manager, regional manager, or anyone above them, I was told there was “no one above me” and to call the corporate 1-800 number.
I said I would be filing a complaint — and at that point, the “manager” told me she “felt uncomfortable renting a car to me.” And was declining to rent a vehicle to me at all. At this point I tried to explain again im not trying to take this out on her personally that the service has been poor and im
Upset with enterprise but she refused to transfer our reservation and cancelled it completely. We were left to stand outside in 90 degree temperatures waiting for our Lyft again to go to another location while she looked at us out the window laughing at us.
This felt like retaliation for simply stating we would contact corporate regarding my experience with the reservation person over the phone and this branch location experience. To make matters worse, throughout the interaction, my fiancé received strange looks from staff, which made me question if this was racially motivated or just pure unprofessionalism.
Bottom line: they were unwilling to help, unwilling to honor what was promised, and refused to provide any path for resolution. This ruined what should have been a special weekend and left me scrambling for transportation. I will never recommend this location to anyone — friends, family, or clients.
