The employee told me there were three cars ahead of mine and asked if I could leave it, which I didn’t mind — I just asked to be notified when it was done. What I wasn’t prepared for was the price. An interior‑only service came out to $350, which is astonishing. For $250 people will come to your house and detail interior and exterior. To put that in perspective, Washman, a major regional competitor, advertises full interior + exterior cleanings in about 20 minutes and promotes “professional auto detail cleaning you can afford” with a public published price list. That means United’s $350 interior‑only charge is not just higher — it’s well above the competitors high end published pricing range. At this point, the price I was quoted feels less like standard detailing and more like surge pricing, or pricing to not get the job, especially given it was a rainy weekday with no appointment and no special request. When comparable shops in the area start around $150 for interior work and Washman’s full‑service packages average under $100, $350 for interior‑only is extremely out of line with the local market.
