REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE AND NOW THEYRE REFUSING TO CALL ME BACK AND REFUND ME MY $500 DEPOSIT. The only time in the world I’ve ever been into trouble and yes the DUII was my fault but please do not use this company. During the years I was paying them THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS about once every other week I would get what they call a “lock out”. This is of absolutely no fault of the user. The units are sensitive and if you don’t blow fast enough a lock out could happen. During these lockouts they would shut my vehicle off and force me to pay more money to get the vehicle turned back on. Please do your research and don’t let a really bad time in your life be made worse by choosing the wrong company. They also made removing the unit difficult. I prepaid for everything in advance because I didn’t want to worry about bills and this company used all my “credits” for lockouts (their fault not user error) and I had to pay almost double what I was originally quoted (and why I chose this company). Now they’ve received the unit back on 7/22/25 st 12:46PM. They are to mail me my refundable deposit of $500 within 7-10 days of them receiving their unit back but here we are on day 18 of them having the unit back. I have spoken with 3 different customer service agents. All unhelpful and telling me nothing more then “they will put a request in”. I was supposed to receive a phone call back yesterday because the unhelpful agent Natalie told me they don’t have any supervisors or anyone in accounting. What is going on? Why hasn’t my refundable deposit been mailed to me??

Been trying to get ahold of Intoxalock and can never get ahold of anyone. Funny how when you submit a request to get one installed they are always available until you get it installed. I then wrote a bad review about them and someone contacted me about the review and offered credits for the stress and asked if I could change my review and told me anytime I need anything to contact him and everytime I call it goes straight to voicemail. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone it's been the worst experience from the customer service, getting the device installed and calibrated, the recommendation for insurance. Can't believe this company is still in business with the horrible service they provide

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
