Great food, hot coffee, clean restrooms, and that signature energy that made you feel like you were gearing up for a road trip, even if you were just grabbing a soda and heading home. It was one of those places that felt fun. Familiar. Easy. But then came that day. My husband... kind, gentle, long-haired, and possibly the most harmless man you’ll ever meet... walked in like he always did. And for some reason, they looked at him like he didn’t belong. Like he was a problem before he even said a word. He was treated with suspicion, watched like a thief, and left feeling like he had done something wrong... simply for existing in the wrong hairstyle. We’ve never forgotten it. It only takes one bad experience to erase years of good ones. And that was it for us. We never went back. Not because the snacks aren’t good, not because the store isn’t convenient, but because kindness matters. Respect matters. And the way someone is treated shouldn’t depend on how they look. Two stars. One for the past. One for the potential. But Maverik is no longer Adventure's First Stop.... even if it was the Last Stop.... we would go elsewhere.
