  I recently visited for a vehicle safety inspection. The inspection was completed and I was informed afterward that the vehicle failed due to a windshield issue (a small chip that had already been professionally repaired). The reason I’m writing this review is because the windshield was the only reason for the failure. My concern is that this issue was not clearly pointed out at the very beginning when the inspection started. If it had been communicated upfront, I could have addressed it before proceeding with a paid full inspection, which would have saved both time and cost. I understand and respect that safety standards must be followed, however better communication at the start of the process would make the experience more transparent and fair for customers. Additionally, I’ve now been told I have only 22 days for a free re-inspection if I replace the windshield. This adds pressure, as replacing a windshield is a significant unexpected expense of around $1500, which is not something most people can easily plan for without prior notice. Overall, clearer upfront guidance before starting the inspection would have made this a much better experience.

  My daughter was travelling from Ottawa to Sudbury when her car broke down in North Bay. The towing company recommended several repair shops, including Under the Hood Automotive, and we’re very glad they did. Within minutes of arriving, they diagnosed the problem, ordered the necessary parts, and had her safely back on the road in about two hours. The pricing was fair, and the customer service was truly outstanding. It’s reassuring to know that honest and trustworthy repair shops like Under the Hood Automotive still exist. We’re very grateful for the fast and professional service. Thank you again for taking such good care of her!

  I can’t recommend them enough! I’ve been going to them for years and they always do really great work at honest fair prices. As someone who doesn’t know that much about cars- just the bare minimum, going to shops can be stressful because some places will exploit your ignorance and rip you off. Not these guys! Adrian always goes out of his way to thoroughly explain the issue, even goes as far as putting aside faulty parts to provide a visual explanation. This isn’t something I’ve experienced at other shops in the past and it is so reassuring. I feel at ease bringing my vehicle there. Receptionist is also extremely friendly! All around an awesome shop.
