Terrible Service, Overpriced, and Rude Staff – Avoid Penske Truck Rentals!
I had the most frustrating experience with Penske Truck Rentals, and I would strongly advise anyone in need of a truck to look elsewhere. Two weeks ago, I reached out to them desperately needing a truck to move my furniture, and I spoke to a gentleman named Bruce. At first, he seemed kind and reassured me that they would "take good care of me." I felt a bit of relief at the time, but that was short-lived.
When I called Bruce today to confirm the final pricing for my rental, I was shocked at what he quoted me: \$200 plus a dollar per kilometer for a 24-hour rental. To make matters worse, Bruce came off as incredibly rude and dismissive on the phone. It felt like he was trying to take advantage of my situation and overcharge me for a basic truck rental. This was completely unprofessional and left me feeling disrespected.
At the time he gave me the price, I was nothing but polite and respectful. I told him that I needed to confirm the cost with my wife to see if it fit within our budget. Instead of being understanding, Bruce became ignorant and threatening, saying he would cancel our reservation. He made it sound like we would be "lucky" if we called back and found a truck available. It was clear he was trying to pressure me into agreeing to the overpriced deal.
I ended up looking around for other options and found U-Haul offering a truck for \$29.99 for the day, plus mileage—far cheaper than what Bruce at Penske was going to charge me.
If you want fair pricing, decent customer service, and people who actually treat you with respect, DO NOT go to Penske. Bruce’s unprofessional attitude, pushy sales tactics, and the outrageous prices make this place a total rip-off. I highly recommend going with U-Haul or another rental company—anywhere but Penske.
