Matt at Fountain Tire was ABSOLUTELY amazing!! I was in panic mode as I had a damaged wheel and Matt stepped in, located the last one left in the country, got me in and changed my wheel. What a seamless experience! Thank you so much! I highly recommend Fountain Tire Cambridge!

I had a tire blow on the 401 at 06:00 and it just happened to be -25.
I called Fountain tire in Ayr ( who were not actually the closest ) and the rescue driver answered. Throughout the whole experience Mike( the rescuer) provided me with actual phone calls to keep me updated of his progress which I liked because didn’t have the sense of abandonment.
My spare tire was put on quickly and safely considering the rush hour 401 traffic.
Mike took my damaged tire and made arrangements for a new one to be installed.
Arrived at the dealership to get my new tire installed and they put the spare tire back where it belonged
Glad to see professionalism is still around and the ability to help people when needed is also around
Thanks Fountain Tire Ayr

My wife and I had a excellent experience this morning with Matt and Fred, both guys are friendly, answered all my questions, gave me great advice when selecting my winter tire package for our volvo, I highly recommend this business for your tire needs.
Tires wear out over time, and how long they last depends on things like road conditions, driving habits, inflation, and temperature. The best way to know when to replace them is to check them regularly.
Common ways to measure tread include the following.
- Tread wear bars: When these are flush with the tread, it’s time to replace.
- Coin test: If too much of the coin shows, your tread is low.
- Tread depth gauge: The most accurate way to measure.
If your tread is low or you see cracks, bulges, or notice vibration, come see us.
What are some signs my vehicle is out of alignment?
It doesn’t take much to throw your alignment off—potholes, curbs, or just everyday driving. Poor alignment can lead to faster tire wear and poor handling.
Common signs include:
- Vehicle pulls to one side
- Crooked steering wheel
- Uneven tire wear
- Loose or unstable steering
- Vibration in the steering wheel
If something feels off, we’re happy to take a look.
What’s included in the seasonal car care package?
Our seasonal car care package gets your vehicle ready for the weather ahead. It includes:
- Fresh engine oil and filter
- Chassis lubrication (as needed)
- Charging and starting system check
- Brake inspection
- Fluid top-ups
- Belt and hose inspection
- Battery test
- Tire and pressure check
- Heating/cooling system check
- Lights, wipers, and overall safety check
It’s a great way to make sure your vehicle is ready for the season.
What do the numbers on my tires mean?
The numbers on your tire’s sidewall tell you the size, load rating, and speed rating.
Example: 225/55R17 97H
- 225 – Tire width (mm)
- 55 – Height as a % of width
- R – Radial construction
- 17 – Wheel diameter (inches)
- 97 – Load rating (how much weight it can carry)
- H – Speed rating (maximum safe speed)
These numbers help us match you with the right tire.
When should I put my winter tires on?
A good rule of thumb: when you can see your breath — about 7°C and below. At that temperature, all-season tires start to harden, while winter tires stay flexible and grippy. Booking early helps you beat the rush.
