I would like to give a shout out to Grace in the Intoxalock troubleshooting call center. I think she is in India. Anyway, Grace was very professional & knowledgeable in clearing some bugs in my equipment after a vehicle battery change, even when the Intoxalock technicians at my repair center here in the USA could not figure out what to do. After replacing my original H6 battery on my Ford F-150 with an H7, my IID device went haywire displaying all kinds of weird error codes which my local Intoxalock technicians could not decipher. Imagine that. I called the Intoxalock troubleshooting number & Grace walked me through some basic procedures which restored my IID to normal, got me back on the road in 20 minutes & avoided an expensive lockout. Thanks Grace! I had my IID installed just 3 weeks ago by a local licensed Intoxalock technician & almost immediately my truck started displaying a message “system shut down to save battery.” Initially this stressed me out, but to be fair, that H6 battery was over 5 yrs old so I bought a new H7 today which hopefully will prevent battery drains in the future. However, if the battery drain occurs again with the new, higher capacity H7 I will have to obtain a work order to have the original IID installation inspected for proper wiring. The guy who did the install 3 weeks ago here in Tulsa said he has been working with Intoxalock for 9 years but when I started having battery drain issues he didn’t want to help at all so I was forced to change repair centers today. There are only 3 Intoxalock repair centers here in Tulsa. Hopefully this new repair center is better than the last guy who installed it. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again, Grace!

Barely on my third day with device and they already gave me a third violation because I cannot get the inhaling after blowing out part right and so I have to pay a lockout fee of $96....their machine also looks so old for it to be 2025 so I believe it is faulty. They are also very difficult to get a hold and will leave you on hold for 30 minutes.

I had to take my car for repair on December 2nd after an accident. I got it back 24 days later, they had a problem with their sprayer, oil mixed with paint. They had to sand and paint all the cars again. When I went to get my car, they just handed me the keys and let me go. I was disappointed, hoping for a little something, maybe fill up my tank that would've cost them $20, but nothing! I am an Uber driver, and this meant that I couldn't work for 24 days! I went home right away and sent a message on their website, saying how disappointed I was. I had an answer less than an hour later from the owner "I am so sorry for what happened, I was gone for a month, what can I do to make it right!" I was surprised to receive such a fast answer and told him that my car needed some love and made a list of what needed to be done, telling him to choose whatever he wanted to do on this list. I had an answer right away "bring your car on the 7th and we will do everything on the list!" I was amazed! I got my car back last night, everything on my list has been fixed. I have no word to say how thankful I am, and what an awesome customer service they provided, they really went above and beyond, and I can't recommend them enough!

Customer service over the phone is lazy. Called in to pay a specific amount and place a work order. Was placed back on hold, then transfered back in to the call waiting line. Do not use this company simply because they do not care about how they are presented or bringing quality service. The work order was to replace or fix a faulty device that keeps restarting, not allowing me to turn my car on, by the way. The service isn't worth it, the product isn't worth it, just do a little digging and find a better service vendor. I chose them because they were the cheapest option and boy did I get my money's worth.

If you call in they will transfer you to your "agent" who will insdescrimantely decide to answer, forcing the customer to halt the person that is trying to function as an operator rather than be the one to click a few buttons, and basically ask them to do some kind of work other than transferring you to a voicemail. This is all in regards to setting up and maintaining my account, who could possibly know what would happen if someone got locked out by this company, I doubt they would be much help if they're ignoring compliant clients as well

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
