I've been a long-time customer of Hertz, but they do not provide transportation for the one-mile journey from house to Hertz office. I hired a taxi, but had to sit on the sidewalk in 7°F weather 15 minutes while another customer sat in his warm car watching me. Employee was late (wreck on highway), then told me my "Manager's Special" (saved two dollars!) was a TESLA, known hard to charge in cold weather. Nearest charge station 8 miles away, takes 1-2 hours sitting in the cold to charge (can't run the heater that extends charge time). I objected, was told I could upgrade to the car I should have selected, for ANOTHER $50. The "save-$2-manager's-special" did not warn me it would be an electric. Then the employee said "You know what, the energy is not right, I can't rent a car to you." Invited me to leave. I am handicapped, on disability; I hobbled four blocks with my canes (climbing over several small snowdrifts) in the cold to Enterprise, where I was treated excellently, and they cheerfully rented a car. And upon returning they took me home, told me "next time we'll come get you you don't have to hire a taxi". All Enterprise employee attitudes were excellent, bet you can guess who I'll call for the next rental. I should have learned from the Hertz rental a year before, 12-hour late return fee when I actually returned it 10 minutes early, and a second false charge which I also had to have removed.
