I always felt it was overpriced, but they do it quickly, so I didn’t complain. Since I got the oil change, my van had been spilling oil left and right. I went to my mechanic to figure out the problem, and he asked me who did my last oil change. He told me Valvoline overtightened the drainplug which stripped the oil pan, and now it has to be replaced. He told me it would cost $639. The price tag included a second oil change, which he kindly discounted understanding my situation. I called Valvoline and told the manager the story, and he told me he couldn’t negotiate with me unless one of his mechanics looked at it. I called my mechanic who had not yet started the work on it. He literally stopped servicing it so I could drive it over, or so Valvoline could even come over and look at it independently. I called Valvoline again and talked with the manager. He told me not to even bother. He said he would not compensate me or even refund me for the bad oil change because another mechanic had even touched it. “How do I know he didn’t cause the problem?” he said. In my head I was thinking, “If I gave it to you first, how do I know that you weren’t going to mess with it? I mean, you’re the one that freaking broke my oil pan!” He said he won’t work with me, so now I am left paying $720 to change my oil and fix the repairs caused by Valvoline.
