  On Veterans Day, I visited Valvoline to get an oil change for my 2022 Volkswagen Atlas SEL R-Line Premium. Before any work began, I clearly and specifically instructed the technicians not to top off or add any coolant. My vehicle requires G12 Evo or G13 coolant, which is a Volkswagen-specific formula and cannot be mixed with universal or blue coolants without risking contamination. Despite my explicit instructions, the technicians proceeded to fill the coolant without consulting me or obtaining approval. This action introduced incompatible coolant into my system. Two days later, after noticing an issue, I took my vehicle to the Volkswagen dealership. The technicians there confirmed that the coolant had been contaminated. The dealer’s invoice explicitly notes that the coolant was discolored due to blue coolant being mixed with the required pink/fuchsia VW coolant. As a result, I was required to get a complete coolant flush, which cost $380 out of pocket. When I escalated the issue to Valvoline’s customer service department, the manager contacted me—however, instead of acknowledging the mistake, she argued with me, insisting that the coolant was “compatible,” despite Volkswagen manufacturer specifications stating otherwise and Valvoline’s own coolant compatibility guidelines. When asked for it to be escalated up to her manager she stated that he would just refer it back to her. I am still continuing to escalate this experience but I would like for them to make it right because this is something that could have been avoided if their employees would have slowed down and talked to me before they started working on my car. What would have cost me $20 to fill up coolant on my own ended up costing me almost 400 right before Christmas.

  11-13-2025 - update at bottom! Customers beware! The current management does not know the difference in engine coolants. The current manager told us that the engine coolant colors do not matter. This is crazy to hear from a Valvoline store manager. My wife pulled into the Valvoline store located in reynoldsburg ohio on November 11th 2025. Before any of the employees came to her driver side window to speak with her they were already working on her vehicle. She saw them using a blue liquid near her coolant cap. After a few minutes an employee came to her driver side door to speak with her about her vehicle maintenance needs. She told them she wanted an oil change and not to fill up her engine coolant because they dont carry the correct type. The employee said we actually already filled your coolant because it was low. My wife asked them what coolant they used and they could not tell her. She saw the color of the coolant and it was blue. My wife drives a 2022 VW Atlas and they should have used there global HT-12 pink coolant if anything. The manufacturer recommends g13 coolant ( valvoline does not have this coolant ). The employees could not tell her what coolant they used so they had to call the service center to get more details on the coolant they just used. How can you tell a customer that the coolant is compatible but not know what coolant it is? Any mechanic can tell you the damage that can occur by mixing coolants. We are now dealing with the manager who is adamant that the colors don't matter and that she uses this coolant on other vws and Audis. I wonder how many vehicles have been destroyed or are currently being damaged by the poor training and negligence at this store. We made an appointment with a VW dealership for a full coolant flush. This is going cost us $350. The store was busy and if the employees would have slowed down and if the employees knew what products they were using we would not be in this situation. 11-13-2025 We Just left the VW dealership in Whitehall, Ohio. The technicians did a full engine coolant flush because It was confirmed that Valvoline 100% put the wrong engine coolant in our 2022 VW Atlas. The technicians even wrote it on our paid invoice. We have already filled out a complaint form and we hope that this Valvoline store owns up to there mistake and reimburses us in full.

  I got my oil changed yesterday and everything thing went Great as always!! Then today I ran a couple errands and then my truck threw a wrench then low oil pressure signal and then shut off .. OMG .. so I call Valvoline and talked to Terryion the manager explained the situation and he said he will take care of it. He personally came to my truck ran some diagnostics and changed the oil filter and checked the oil level and it was fine. He could have just left and said not our problem BUT instead helped diagnose the problem found to be a bad fuel rely fuse then proceeds to change it for me with a fuse from his own vehicle care kit then replaced and then cleared the codes and my truck fired right up !!! I want to extend my Greatest Appreciation for Terryion for going above and beyond to care of his costumers!!! THANK YOU SIR !!

  Valvoline Valvoline!!!! Thank you all so much for getting my battery replaced today on my Chevy Trailblazer, ya’ll are some life savers!! After running around to different places and getting outrages pricing smh!! Ya’ll really came through for ya girl!!! Thank ya!!! Keep up the good customer service as well, the whole staff was very polite and friendly!!!! Thanks again guys!!!!!!

  I like this Valvoline. The people here are very friendly. Being greeted upon arrival and always saying have a good day when leaving. They also have a large bay door that my vehicle can fit thru. I find that taller vehicles have a harder time finding shops with garage doors large enough to accommodate.
