  I booked a van for a cross country trip to bring my late father’s belongings from Ohio back to my home in SD. Because I had been back and forth to Ohio several times between my dad dying, dealing with his estate, and my grandma dying, I have very little time to get back to work. I planned ONE thing for myself since it has been a hell of a hard year and I needed some joy. So I thought I would check something off my bucket list since I was going to have to make this drive and that was to go see Morton’s Arboretum on my way west. Tickets must be bought in advance to get in to the Arboretum. I booked this van nearly a month before my trip, long enough that they would know it was going to be over 1500 miles and should know how many miles were on the van to know it needed an oil change BEFORE turning it over to me. They failed to change the oil and the light came on 300 miles into my trip. Now I’m sitting waiting for a technician to get here “within an hour” so they can change the oil. I’m missing my trip into the Arboretum so my money has been wasted. My time is being wasted. Moreover, when I picked up the van, I had paid for 2 packages of 12 of moving pads. There were ZERO in the truck. I had to go back into the store, wait for them to fold them and give them to me. Got back out to the van, counted them, they didn’t give me enough… So back in to the store I had to go. Grief is already hard enough, it doesn’t need to be made harder by lack of attention, negligence, and poor customer service. I’m in tears and so upset right now. I never get to do anything for myself between work, and running two nonprofits I founded. I needed this little piece of joy. I do not recommend using this location. Update: the maintenance crew came out. She arrived on time and was super nice. She checked the oil and the computer. Come to find out two hours of my time was wasted because someone did not reset the freaking button! Now I’m even more upset! What a waste of time and money!

  Had a reservation for a cargo van a week before my move, called to confirm the day before my pickup date and was told there are no cargo vans within 50 miles for pickup. Had downsized belongings after booking van with the plan to have an easy, light cross country move, but instead was given the option to upgrade to an unnecessarily large truck or to cancel (I canceled)

  If you are used to moving truck rental from U-Haul or Budget then your jaw will drop when you find out the prices to rent a moving truck from Penske. After receiving a quote from U-Haul at $45 and budget was right there in the same ballpark, I call Penske and I’m quoted over $200 for a smaller size truck... I asked if it was a mistake and then I asked if it came with labor to load the truck, after the representative didn’t find the humor in my comment, I politely declined their quote

  I had called you on 5/16 to rent a 16 ft truck for the 26th. You said everything was good. I rented from Home Depot in Lewis Center to pick up at 8:00 am. When I got there they told me the reservation was not finished in the computer. Causing me me take a cargo van instead and making more trips then I wanted. Then when I went back to drop it off they charged me xtra for the mileage. I want to know what you are going to do to make this right. I will call your office on Tuesday. And then maybe I will change my review.

  Disorganized. Terms of agreement are far worse when you come pick it up after booking online.
