I think I have met all of the people that work there by now (thanks to all my projects), and they will always give you great service with a smile. Also, if they don't know enough about something to speak with authority on it, then they will let you know. Nobody can know about everything in the automotive world, and I've met too many car guys that will make something up or overstate a tentative opinion so that they can feel important. If my business was closer to these guys, then I'd be recruiting people out of this store.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
