- MRMatt ReuterSep 12, 20251.0Buyer beware.... So i took my finances van to this shop for a quote on brakes. I get a call that the ball joint is bad. I say gove me a quote. Next thing i know i got a quote for ball joints and stabilizer links, tire rod ends top and bottom and brake pads, rotors and calibers for the front totaling just under $3,200.00. What got me is all the work is related as tou have to take off the brakes and rotors to get to the ball joints, toe rods ect....yet i got charged full labor for each one as if they were starting from scratch for each project. Then to top it off he charged me $900 more then the parts actually cost. I get it that shops make money on parts but a $900 hike is just being greedy. I took it to 2 other shops and their conclusion was it wasnt the ball joints, or tie rod ends but rather a lower control arm. No calipers, just pads and rotors for the brakes. Paid $300 in parts and paid $200 in labor to have all the work done at another shop, no fuss no muss. I bought the parts and they put them on, putting warranty on their labor only as they were my parts which i totally understand. Was in and out in an hour and a half, no muss no fuss. All i can say is pay attention to the quotes cause it would seem they try to take advantage if you dont know anything and charge you more for parts then they should and charging full labor for each job despite being all related in what has to be taken off to replace certsin parts. Would give zero stars if i could

My car broke down and no garage would help they were booked. I called updated automotive repair and Bill the owner was booked and still helped my family and I and got us on the road. If not for bill I would have lost my job and potentially homeless. Bill the owner was such a blessing and fantastic. To anyone who reads this he's the best mechanical honest in the greater cleveland area. Thank you Bill so apricative
