The van I was given was a maintenance nightmare and wasn't even clean. The interior was dirty when I picked it up, yet I still took the time to clean it before returning it. On top of the cleanliness issue, the van was a Mercedes with overdue maintenance. The diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank was completely empty, a serious safety hazard that can lead to engine problems. I had to proactively pay $26 to refill the DEF myself just to ensure my safety. When I brought this up with the front desk, they confirmed they track maintenance records but seemed completely unconcerned. To add insult to injury, I was unjustly charged a $100 refueling fee. The front desk employee had told me that returning the fuel within a reasonable range (20-30 miles up or down) would be fine. I returned the van within that range but was charged anyway. This is a clear case of misleading a customer and then hitting them with an unfair fee. The vehicle itself felt sluggish and underpowered, as if I was driving something useless. This poor performance is a direct result of Alamo's careless maintenance and is truly shocking. I can't believe they would rent out a vehicle in such a poor and unsafe condition. I returned earlier than the booked time supposed to be return by 11:30pm I returned around 5pm no any refund for that
