- OMOmar MApr 6, 20262.0I brought my car in for a brake noise, and they quoted a massive job: all new pads and rotors, rear calipers, and rear brake hoses due to a 'leak.' I took the car to my out-of-town mechanic for a second opinion, and the reality was very different. My front pads and rotors were completely fine (pads only 50-60% worn). The rear rotors were worn but serviceable, and the noise wasn't from a leak—it was just a stiff bracket that needed cleaning and lubrication. The calipers were also in good shape. While I understand a misdiagnosis can happen, claiming that parts with 60% life left need replacing is disappointing. Most people wouldn't know to double-check and would have wasted a lot of money. The only bright spot was that they did catch a screw in my front tire, which I appreciated. Use caution and get a second opinion here.
