I have honeslty avoided all Advance stores due to poor management in the past and a seemingly low morale, even I, as a professional mechanic (ASE Master Tech) and business owner recognize a good vibe vs an unwelcoming environment. NOT the case on my visit today! The two folks behind the counter were very friendly, willing to help and best part- they have a GREAT attitude! The vibe in the store was welcoming and friendly. I will be stopping by this store more frequently now and I look forward to our continued relationship! Thanks for fixing that! Give them a raise, spiffs and bonuses, please! Take care of good employees as they are rare in this current business environment and your employees are your greatest asset! Just as its difficult for dealers to find techs, its also difficult to find awesome parts pros, and you need to hang on to these two folks!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
