1/31 I took my suv in for an oil change and requested they also fill my tires. Afterwards I drove immediately to pataskala (mobile groomer), once my car came to its first complete stop it lost acceleration and my car needed pushed out of the road, this caused about 3 near miss accidents due to my car stopping with no breaks being pressed. No warning lights came on during this situation. I called the valvoline and the manager drove 40 minutes from grove city to me in Pataskala. All they did was turn my engine filter around and said it was in backwards. I continued my appts for the day (about 15 stops) and drove home with no issues at that time. Did notice that all tire caps are missing from tire inflation.
- I called 1/31 and asked for a refund for my oil change, they stated that if I recieved a refund then they’re no longer liable for any damages done to my car. Did not accept refund.
- 2/1 I got onto the highway from 665 (about 2 mins from my house) and immediately my car lost acceleration again and the engine and transmission lights were both on this time. The manager is less than useful, the assistant manager had me sitting in my car in the cold for 20 minutes before he came out to see what was going on with my car. The assistant manager drove to the autozone and bought a part that he was “suspecting is the issue” and stated that it was from damage done from the engine filter being in backwards. He manually turned off my warning lights and basically wished me luck. told that if I took my car to an actual mechanic then they would not be reimbursing for anything the mechanic finds because they feel they fixed the issue (without having a diagnostic machine at their facility). They only recommended that I drive my car around all day and see how it works. They said if my car has issues again, to bring it back to the valvoline for another bandaid fix. (This would be the 3rd time)
EDIT- I called customer service 2/2 at 8am. I spoke to several people who all gave me the same run around, they said that the regional manager would be contacting me (has been over 24 hours). They bought a MASS censor with the store credit card on 2/1, so I know they would be able to use that same card to first hand pay for a real mechanic to look at my car. offering zero accountability past buying shady pieces and fixing things under the table is insane. I will be looking into next steps legally.
EDIT - contacted customer service 2/4 after waiting 24 hours for the regional manager to contact me like I was told. The first person in the claims department I spoke to had zero notes about 2/1 and the MASS censor being replaced. Also explained that the notes from 1/31 notated that there was no damage done to my vehicle which is inaccurate. Claims department told me on 1/31 that a refund for the oil change waives all liability from valvoline for my vehicle being damaged. Inquired about that today and this CSR was unsure if that was true and claimed she had nobody to ask (she was the one who told me that initially on 2/2?)
-currently on day 5 since my oil change causing damage to my vehicle with zero accountability and zero solutions and zero contact to rectify their mistakes. Will be filing a report with the BBB and attorney general.

Valvoline as a company and specifically at this location will no longer get my business anymore. I have typically had a decent customer experience when using this Valvoline in recent visits. This time.... This time I was not impressed... Listening to the workers speak about certain areas of cars around me made a tad nervous for their services. One employee taking my air cleaner out, snapping it on the lid of my airbox checking for dirt, then throwing it back in my engine bay as if it were his own vehicle. I've also been a customer that brings their own oil as it saves some money and the convenience of having Valvoline change it was nice. I understand there is a price for convenience but raising the rate of having them just change the oil from $30 to $57 dollars!! Yes, they do provide an oil filter however before I knew about this option I always brought my own and no one who worked there ever mentioned and gladly charged me full price. No employee checked my headlights, turn signals, break lights, etc. as they always do. Hell, it wasn't until I got home that I realized they did not even give me a receipt. Since they scan your vin every time you come in, one would think maybe, they would inform their customers of a price increase of that amount before they decided to provide the service. $57 dollars!! good lord. Once I paid for the service and was told the price the employee said to me, "yea man, they changed the prices a couple months ago". Why is Valvoline not educating their employees to inform their customers of price increases in this already crazy inflated economy?? They can train them on how to offer me a crappy air filter for 27.99 but not to mention to repeat customers that when they have not been in since the rate hike they should probably inform them?? Not to mention the oil spots on my hood and the oil drip that was left over from them draining it. Which I've had to ask every time for them to clean up. Less customer service for almost double the price. The corporate American way.
