Although my check engine light was not on, I wanted to check for any pending or historical codes as a proactive measure. The employee at the counter refused to perform the scan, stating, "if the engine light isn't on I can't check it." When I questioned this, he was dismissive and repeated himself. This is technically incorrect. OBD-II scanners can and should be used to read pending codes that have not yet triggered a check engine light. This is a critical part of early diagnostics. I immediately drove to the AutoZone down the street, where an employee understood my request and performed the scan without any hesitation. Their customer service was excellent and highlighted the lack of training and poor attitude at your store. Because of this experience and the dissemination of incorrect information, I will be taking my business to your competitors from now on. I suggest you invest in better training for your staff!
