- GRGarrett RabenoldOct 27, 20251.0Despite doing so 20+ times in the past 15 years at many different auto parts stores they now don't allow you to return ANY electronic parts even if they're unopened. Story: 8:40pm, a friend called me and their car is misfiring, they're going on a trip the next day. I'm like oh it's probably an ignition coil, but the parts store closes in 20 minutes. So I went to Advance Auto and paid $150 for a coil pack so that I'd have the part if needed. Well, it turns out I don't need it; a mouse had chewed thru some wires. So I repair the wires and friend goes on the trip successfully the next day. Fast forward a few days and I go to return this completely unopened unused coil pack and Advance says no. I call corporate and even after escalation I am told no. I've also had trouble with warrantying out batteries; the computer systems don't communicate between stores. So if you bought your battery out of town you're SOL because you have to go to the exact same advance where you bought your battery in order for them to honor the warranty. I'll never be back and will be very sure to tell everyone about how Advance Auto doesn't care about its customers.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
