Love the fact that they ask if I need help, as a courtesy, not like I’m ignorant to vehicles. The store is usually quiet and clean, other than the gents daily banter on cars, sports, or whatever the days topic may be. They always pause to ask if someone needs help (super nice). Prefer this store than the Auto Zone on Glenway or Warsaw. There’s an older gent, but he doesn’t say much other than basic cordialities. He adds to the ambiance (reminds me of the man in “Up”). Overall, for the service, price, and items desired, you just can’t beat this place.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
