I was told to come in at 8:00 a.m. to drop off my car, only to be accused of stealing $25 from a service that happened a year ago. This was over valve stems they replaced after two brand-new tires they installed were leaking air. At the time, I was never told there was a charge, never billed, and never asked to pay anything. Instead of simply saying I owed $25 and giving me the chance to pay it, they jumped straight to calling me a thief! That is poor management, plain and simple. This whole situation could have been handled with a simple conversation, but instead it was blown way out of proportion. I also can’t help but question whether I would have been treated the same way if I weren’t Black, because accusing someone of theft instead of asking for $25 payment is unacceptable. Twenty Five Dollars. Be for real!
