Not knowing what was happening and a bit nervous for being so far from home, I managed to drive the car to Advance Auto Parts. Nambdi was very helpful and friendly and really made me feel more relaxed. He checked the battery and then the computer setting. All the lights went off after he reset the system. I decided to change the battery anyway just to be safe and he helped out with that with a big smile through the whole thing. I couldn't be more grateful for finding him to take care of what could have been a very stressful situation. Thank you Nambdi. I hope they know what a great employee you are.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
