Complaint Regarding Poor Service at AutoZone – Forest Ave, Staten Island (Dec 22)
Dear AutoZone Customer Service Team,
I am writing to formally complain about an extremely poor and unacceptable service experience at your AutoZone location at 2294 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY, on December 22nd around 5:25 PM.
Earlier that afternoon, my car battery died. My insurance roadside assistance jump-started my vehicle and strongly recommended that I go directly to AutoZone to purchase and have a new battery installed the same day. Following my workday, I drove straight to the above location.
I purchased a new battery, paid in full, and received my receipt. After payment, I repeatedly asked for assistance with installing the battery. Despite waiting for over one hour, no employee was willing to help. I explained multiple times that I urgently needed the battery replaced because I work a night shift in the medical field and could not afford to return the next day.
One employee, Carlos, repeatedly refused to assist me, giving several excuses such as:
• He was tired
• He was busy
• He did not want to do it at that time
• He did not have the right tools
At one point, he briefly opened the hood, then left again, stating he did not have tools. Later, he returned with a tool and claimed it was the wrong one and that he could not perform the installation. Throughout this process, I felt ignored, disrespected, and deliberately delayed.
Eventually, I was forced to leave without the battery being installed, despite having already paid for it. I had to drive home in an unsafe condition, missed my overnight shift, and suffered financial and emotional stress as a result.
I have documentation of the time I entered the store, proof of purchase, and voice recordings of my conversations with Carlos, if required for investigation.
This experience was deeply disappointing and unprofessional. I relied on AutoZone for same-day service, as advertised and recommended, and was left stranded instead. Due to this incident, I cannot recommend this location to anyone.
I respectfully request that AutoZone:
1. Investigate this incident thoroughly
2. Address the behavior of the employee involved
3. Consider appropriate compensation for the inconvenience and lost work
4. Ensure customers are treated respectfully and assisted as promised
