- SPSelaina PorterOct 5, 20251.0After selling my husband a battery and telling him they can install it in our RV the manager came out and said they don’t do RV installs. We did it ourselves and then they yelled at me for telling them I hoped they were proud of themselves since it clearly says FREE BATTERY INSTALLATION twice on their windows and on the website. There were three 20 somethings standing in their air conditioning watch a 79 year old man and his 67 year old wife install a battery they could barely lift together. But we did it and they can kiss the rear end of our RV as we pull out of the lot.

We had just got a new battery for our truck in Maine at an Advance store, but it had less cranking amps to start the truck than what is suggested, so it would start, but a few days later while pulling our RV for several hours, the truck wouldn't start after we stopped for gas without a jump. I called Shawn from the gas station. He said if I could get to his store in Sidney, NY, he could probably help us. We made it to the store, and true to his word, Shawn swapped out our under amped battery for one recommended for our truck. Advance is lucky to have a customer focused manager like Shawn, and we were blessed to have met him! PS. He knows a thing or two about cars!!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
